Aviation and communications systems are delivered through Vortech Associates (Pty) Ltd, our wholly owned subsidiary with over two decades of operational experience in civil and military aviation environments across Botswana and internationally.
Vortech Associates is the specialist aviation and communications entity within the Iktara Infotech group. All aviation systems work — installation, commissioning, maintenance, and spares supply — is executed by Vortech.
Vortech Associates has been active in aviation systems since the early 2000s — installing, commissioning, and maintaining navigation aids, ATC systems, and meteorological infrastructure at civil and defence airfields in Botswana and internationally.
We have delivered and maintained navigation, ATC, and meteorological systems for the Botswana Defence Force Air Arm and provided navigation equipment support, QA services, and spares supply to the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana.
We install, commission, maintain, and support the following ground-based aviation and communications systems — delivered to civil aviation authority or military standards as required.
Ground-based navigation infrastructure for civil and military airfields — installation, commissioning, upgrade, and maintenance.
Air traffic control communication systems for tower operations — supply, installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Dedicated ground-to-air systems for airfield and defence operations — integration, maintenance, and fault resolution.
Automated weather and visibility systems for airfield operations and mission planning.
Airfield lighting systems for night and low-visibility operations — supply, installation, and maintenance.
Land mobile, tactical radio, and LTE network infrastructure for government, defence, and enterprise clients.
Vortech Associates has supported the BDF Air Arm at Thebephatshwa Air Base across navigation aids, air traffic control systems, and meteorological infrastructure. Work has included the installation, upgrade, and ongoing maintenance of ILS, DVOR, DME, NDB, ATC radio systems, meteorological equipment, and a complete mobile control tower. Technical training has been delivered to BDF Air Arm personnel throughout the engagement. Primary navigation and ATC systems have been maintained at near-100% operational availability.
Vortech Associates has provided navigation systems support to the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana across multiple engagements. This has included independent quality assurance reviews of DVOR/DME and ILS/DME systems commissioned by third parties, technical fault diagnosis on navigation aids that resisted resolution through normal maintenance channels, and the supply of spares on a timely and cost-effective basis. CAAB has confirmed that the QA work identified and corrected deficiencies that would otherwise have caused operational problems after deployment.
We work with established aviation systems manufacturers and communications technology vendors across navigation and radio infrastructure.
