Iktara Infotech was founded with a clear purpose — to give government institutions and enterprises operating in Botswana a credible, capable local partner for complex systems work. This is the story of how we built that, and where we are taking it.
When Iktara Infotech was founded in Gaborone in 2017, the gap we were trying to fill was straightforward: organisations operating in Botswana — government institutions, parastatals, and multinational companies with local operations — needed enterprise software systems, but had limited access to a local partner who understood their environment, their procurement requirements, and their operational context.
Most of the firms capable of implementing ERP platforms and enterprise software were based outside Botswana. Engagements were managed remotely, with teams flying in and out. We believed that a local firm, properly resourced and technically credible, could serve that market better — and that Botswana-based organisations deserved a partner that was genuinely invested in their success, not just passing through.
In 2023, we expanded the group significantly by acquiring Vortech Associates (Pty) Ltd — a Botswana-registered firm with over two decades of active experience in aviation and communications systems. Vortech had built a strong track record installing, commissioning, and maintaining navigation aids, ATC systems, and meteorological infrastructure for the Botswana Defence Force Air Arm and the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana.
Bringing Vortech into the group gave Iktara a second, complementary capability — one operating in a completely different domain, but with the same underlying philosophy: technical depth, direct delivery, and knowledge transfer that actually sticks.
Today, the Iktara Infotech group operates across enterprise systems and aviation infrastructure. Both domains are demanding. Both require the same standards. And both are growing.

Knowledge transfer is built into every engagement — so that when we leave, the client is in control. That is what we mean by delivery that lasts.
